Hey there! It’s Melisa Arroyo, your friendly neighborhood counselor. As you may have noted by looking around my website, I am authenticly unconventional. So I'm not just going to share a stereotypical business about me.
I am a nature-loving creative being who is passionate about holistic wellness. I spend a lot of my free time with my fur babies, family, and friends. I love my faith, learning, music, creating wellness content, hiking, eating food, and being with my people. I love a lot of other things but for the sake of not writing a novel, I’ll leave it at that.
So why did I become an integrative counselor? Here’s a bit of my story (look out for a longer version on YouTube). My father is a Physical Education Teacher who spent his early childhood in the mountains of Michoacan, Mexico like my ancestors. My mother, a Special Education Teacher, was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. Both of my began living in East Los Angeles California as children where my grandparents brought them to live the American dream . I am a proud Mexican- American, a Chicana.
My early childhood was spent nestled in the city of Angeles where I began learning about the value of faith, wellness, culture, and community. Later I moved to Fontana, CA where my faith in Crhist strengthened, developed a thirst for knowledge, and learned how to be a nurturer. My two siblings with special needs also shaped my view of the world. They are truly special as they have taught me love and understanding. Then I moved to Texas where I spent my adolescence. Texas is where I experienced my deepest heartaches and hardest lessons.
Where I came from, everything I’ve been through, everyone I’ve met, everything I’ve learned has impacted how I see the world and my overall wellness. My culture, upbringing, interpersonal relationships, economic status, environment, mentality, emotions, physical wellness, and spirituality are the melting pot of who I am and of how well I am. It’s hard to understand, much less balance and heal one’s well-being.
So that’s why I do it. I know how hard it is maintaining wellness. I love being able to venture with others through their life’s journey lending a listening ear and helping hand.

What is holistic mental health?
Holistic mental health can also be called integrative mental health, alternative mental health and has many other names. The aim is to see the person as a whole individual and unique person. Each person has a different life and needs. Of course the focal point of mental health counseling is on mental health, however there are so many other areas of life that impact mental health or can be impacted by mental health. More info...

****I do not provide services through social media platforms. Due to the importance of your confidentiality and the importance of minimizing dual relationships, I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc). I believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. If you have questions about this, please bring them up when we meet and we can talk more about it.

The moon is reflective, represents intution, and goes through phases. The ocean is mysterious, healing, and everchanging. Both are powerful forces in nature much like my clients.
